5 Things to Test Before Buying Photo Editing Software

Picking photo editing software can feel overwhelming. Every program promises amazing results, so how do you know which one is right for you?
My advice? Grab the free trials and put each one through these five tests before you spend a dime.
1. Ease of Use: Import a photo, make a few basic adjustments, and export it. Does it feel natural, or are you hunting for tools?
2. RAW Processing and Image Quality: Push the exposure, white balance, noise reduction, and sharpening. Does it hold onto your details?
3. Masking and Local Adjustments: Select your subject, tweak the background, or darken a sky. Are the masks accurate and easy to use?
4. Performance and Speed: Open several images, pile on heavy edits, and export a batch. Does it keep up without crashing?
5. File Management and Exporting: How easy is it to organize, find, and export your photos?
Make Your Decision With Confidence - Don’t just click around. Edit the same photos in each program and jot down what you notice.
I put together a FREE Photo Editing Software Evaluation Checklist. You can print this out and have it on your desk while you test out your next photo editing program. Download the checklist below.
